What my 5 Year Old is Wearing 2015

I have a new “What my Tashi is Wearing” post today. Little Tashi recently turned 5, which was a very sad day for me, and ended our family’s 17 years of living with children under the age of 5. It was a big deal. She had THREE separate parties to celebrate!!

Little Tashi is a delight to be with. The whole family realizes she got an extra dose of cuteness and we all adore her. She is also very empathetic and sweet. She is convinced her mama should never go alone anywhere; thus she accompanies me to the most boring places, the grocery store, the pool, the nail salon. All the while being patient and cute.

Currently her favorite things are Lalaloopsies and playing Subway Surfers on my ipad.

Here we go, outfit 1:

outfit 1

Pants: H&M

Shoes: the Gap

Socks: Gymboree

Top: H&M

Poncho: hand me down

The next one has her and her friend in a serious light saber battle (so I was told).

Outfit 2:

outfit 2

Dress: hand me down (originally from Crazy 8)

Socks: Gymboree

Shoes: Hello Kitty Crocs

I’m pretty sure her friend is wearing a Tea dress.

Outfit 3 (where her brother makes an appearance):

outfit 3

Dress: thrifted (originally from Hanna Andersson)

Socks: hand me down

Shoes: Naartijie

Vest: Old Navy

Outfit 4:

outfit 4

Dress: Tea Clothing

Leggins: Old Navy

Shoes: Naartijie

And outfit 5 (with big sister):

outfit number 5

Dress: Tea Clothing (hand me down from Lucy)

Pants: H&M

Socks: Gymboree

Shoes: the Gap

Scarf: H&M

Lalaloopsies: Target

That is all I have. Outfit number 4 is my favorite and we used it in our recent family photo shoot. Pictures coming soon.

Have a lovely day,

Sofija

Instagram Crush: Mama_2thelittleones

It has been cold and rainy in New Mexico this week. A perfect time to introduce you to an Instagram account that is a daily inspiration to me:@mama_2thelittleones. This family has left the busy city life in Munich for a quieter life in the Bavarian Alps. Her pictures of her cute twins are magical and on a foggy day like this  I feel like I have stepped into a fairy tale.

@mama_2thelittleones

On the twins:

The jackets: Traditional Bavarian clothes, a flea-market find (this alone would be reason enough to make a trip to Bavaria!)

Overalls: Red Creek Kids

Adorable Hats: Typically Red

Boots: Gea from Austria

How cute are these twins? They play outside every day dressed in the cutest outfits.

Fun fact, as a young child we would vacation in B&Bs that were also working farms near where this family lives. I have many fond memories of Lake Chiemsee and the mountains there. There is even a fairy tale theme park in that area. It really is magical.

My friend Emily and I did a Little Red Riding shoot a while ago with Ella. You can find it here.

Have a lovely day,

Sofija

Cedar Crest, New Mexico

A couple of weeks ago Tasha and I hung out in Cedar Crest while my oldest son had a meeting at the Gutierezz Canyon Open Space. He will be doing trail work there this weekend for his Eagle Project. So proud of him! Anyway Tasha and I had some time on our hands, so I decided to take some pictures…

Children of the Tribe SS 2015

I found a new Australian children’s clothing company, and I’m hooked. The creative scene in Australia seems to be ever growing, or at least I am slowly finding out about it. Children of the Tribe is from Byron Bay and it embodies everything I heard from my Australian friend’s travels there: creative, artsy, a little bit of boho, and the wild and free surfer existence.

Makes you want to raise your children in Byron Bay. If you have been reading this blog for a while you might know that I pick fashion collections based on photo shoots that convey more than the newest style. They inspire children to be free and curious and playful. I have been struggling with over-scheduling for the entire time I had children. Every summer I get the urge to sign my kids up for swim team, camps, and other really good things, for fear of them becoming too bored or be behind in society. Photos shoots like this encourage me to be a little less scheduled and a little more creative. And yes, living in Byron Bay would help. 🙂
Have an unscheduled day,

What my 4 Year Old is Wearing this Spring 2015

I have another “what my 4 year old is wearing” post for you! As usual my model was delightfully cute and I hope to keep going as long as she lets me…The first two outfits are for those cooler spring days. Around here it can be snowing one day and 70 the next.

Outfit number 1
spring 2015 outfit 1
Dress: Tea Collection
Jacket: Baby Gap
Heart Tights: the Children’s Place
Shoes: Puma
The dress is a carry over from winter but it is so cute I had to get it into this post. And it works on those colder spring days…same with the tights. I’m now convinced everyone needs a pair of heart tights!

Outfit number 2
spring 2015, outfit 2
Pants: H&M
Top: H&M
Shoes: Naartjie (sadly they closed all their stores in the US)
striped socks: Baby Gap

Outfit number 3
spring 2015 outfit 3
Dress: Tea Collection
Leggins: Tea Collection
Sandals: the Chidlren’s Place
Hat: H&M
Neclace: the Children’s Place
Sunglasses: I can’t remember
This outfit just makes my day…

And outfit number 4:

spring 2015 outfit 4

Dress: Thrifted but originally from Old Navy

Leggins: Tea Collection

Rainbow Sandals: the Children’s Place

Necklace: Dyed Corn from Taos Pueblo

Polaroid Camera: Instax

Sunglasses: I can’t remember

How cool is this Instax camera that my oldest daughter bought for our upcoming trip to Europe! It’s a whole new generation of Polaroids. The size of pictures it produces is smaller and more rectangular than the 70’s version. I like the idea so much that I bought myself 10 sheets, hoping she will let me borrow her camera…

Next time you hear from me I will be posting pictures from Croatia, Bosnia, and hopefully Italy. In the meantime check my Instagram feed (link on the right bar of my blog) for daily updates.

As for the outfits, which one is your favorite?

See you soon,

Sofija

What my 4 Year Old is Wearing this Spring 2015

Benetton Kids SS 15

Spring is coming, don’t despair in this miserable weather. If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I am a sucker for Italian photo shoots. Growing up I have spend many summers in that neighborhood, it lets me relive part of my childhood. I also like to highlight brands here that I grew up with and that still deliver year in year out. When I saw Benetton’s 2015 spring collection I had to share.

How can you go wrong with puppies, vegetables, and scooters? The flower shirt dress and chucks would look so cute on my 4 year old.

Riding a scooter in Italy has been a lifelong dream of mine…

Have a lovely day,

Sofija

Valentine’s Photo Shoot

valentines-heart

It is February (thank God, January is my least favorite month) and some of you may be thinking of Valentines day. Do you celebrate it? My husband and I don’t really but for our kids it is a big deal.

Last year Emily and  I did a Valentines photo shoot. I wanted to share it with you again in case some of you missed it. And because it was so cute and I wanted to feature it again on my blog.

My sweet mother-in-law had send us a Valentines package with matching blouses for the girls, so I asked them to join us.

Raspberry Plum FW 2014

Raspberry Plum is a new brand based in London. However the designer Aleksandra Stasic was born in Serbia, and moved to England as a child. I am eagerly following Eastern European designers, and am always happy when a good one like this arrives on the scene. Raspberry Plum is all about classic design borrowed from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s, yet with the modern child in mind. Fabrics are soft and stretchable.

shot_06 shot_10 shot_12 shot_02shot_07shot_09Love the bows and boy scout looking collars. A nice mix of retro and modern, and timeless quality. I’m always a fan of red accessories. Not surprising this line won the Rising Star Award from Bubble London.

Have a great day,

Sofija

What My Three Year Old is wearing this Early Fall 2014

Friends,
I’m so exited to do another edition of “What My Three Year Old is Wearing”. I’m loving this one largely because during our summer trip to DC I had acces to some stores like Zara and H&M that we don’t have here. Believe me, I scanned every sale rack in those stores.

Outfit number 1: Shane made an appearance for this one, which always gets Tashi in a silly mood.

Fall outfit no 1

Blazer: Target

Pants: Zara

Top: H&M

Shoes: Puma

Outift number 2: I had to bribe her with some ice cream…:) I featured the dress and the pants last spring. As it gets colder I can add long sleeve layers under the dress.
fall outfit no 3Dress: Gap

Pants: Gap

Sandals: Old Navy

Jean Jacket: Old Navy

Outfit number 3: Around here we still have plenty warm days, so this outfit still works.
Fall outfit no.2

Jacket: Old Navy

Dress: H&M

Sandals: Old Navy

Outfit number 4:

outfit no 4Top: (thrifted) the Gap

Capris: (hand me down) Old Navy

Shoes: Puma

Notice there is a cat theme going on here, and this fall we are going monochrome?

I’d like to add here that everyone of these outfits was close to $20. With six kids and the four youngest getting fantastic hand-me-downs from the cousins, my budget for little Tashi is pretty close to zero. Most of my money is spend on the two oldest. However, if I happened to come by a $4 dress at H&M I just can’t resist…

Have a wonderful day,

Sofija
