Random Creepy House

creepy houseFriends,

For the life of me I can’t get a post together. It has been one of those days…every time I start writing one of my children interrupts me. Fights, tantrums, bruises, you name it.

So this post is really quick. I took the picture Saturday after our lunch date at the Grove in Albuquerque. We parked on a street with a lot of run down Victorian homes. This one seemed kind of abandoned and creepy. I thought it fitting for the week of Halloween. Maybe I should be bring the kids down here for trick or treating….Maybe then they would behave better. Hm… 🙂

-Sofija

P.S. The food at the Grove was really good. Locally grown, organic, and tasty.

Happy Weekend!

IMG_2561 IMG_2562

Friends,

How was your week? How are you juggling school, schedules, family, and church? For me fall is always the busiest time of the year. It seems like all my commitments pile up in September and October: fundraising, service projects, responsibilities that come with us sitting on various boards,  etc. After that come the holidays….

How do you balance it all? I feel like as long as we eat dinner together as a family at home every night and our weekends are somewhat open we are doing O.K…. How about you?

As far as how my week went; I’m glad it is over. The husband was gone and one of my children had a particularly difficult week. The cute pictures above are the result of me taking some drastic measures. On Monday I took ALL of the girl’s toys out of their bedroom. Everyday it is a mess in there and nobody feels remotely inclined to clean it up. With all their toys gone they now had extra time on their hand to be creative and did nothing but paint for two days….Funny how that happens.

Have a restful weekend, I’ll see you back here on Monday.

-Sofija

P.S. I’m slowly returning some toys as long as they keep their room clean.

Happy Weekend!

Santa Fe

Friends,

Remember I told you about driving up to Santa Fe for our anniversary a week ago? Well, we did and we took our three year old with us. Here are some pics from that day.

The first picture is San Miguel Mission, the oldest church in the US.

I love everything about this, the setting, the Instagram feel, the fun tights and sweaters…The knit dress on the toddler girl would look great on my three year old. Their sizes span from 1 month to 14 years.

Have a lovely day,

A Week of Groceries in Different Countries

Hi,

One of my FB friends posted this and I was utterly fascinated by it. Peter Menzel photographed different families from all over the world with a week’s worth of groceries.

This is fascinating on so many levels. Not only do you get to see the size of typical families and how much they eat, but you also get a peek into their living rooms. The German one looks pretty legit, especially with all the seltzer water and beer.

Boy, I need to eat more fruit and  vegetables. The picture from Kuwait is kind of funny, what’s up with the empty kitchen? The one from Chad is heart wrenching.

Two more weeks till Halloween. Do you know what you will be wearing? Our neighborhood will be encountering a lady bug (3 year old), spider girl (5 year old), black cat (7 year old), and zombie (12 year old) this year. My 9 year old son hasn’t decided yet.

Here are some more ideas.

What My Three Year Old is Wearing this Fall

This Weekend

DSC07096Friends,

How was your week? Did you get a fall break? I took this week off and spend most of my time  going through a ginormous amount of girl’s clothes. But now it’s done! Everyone has warm winter clothes in their closets.

Now I’m looking forward to this weekend. Should be lots of fun. Friends are staying over for one night and tomorrow is our anniversary. We don’t have big plans. Maybe drive up to Santa Fe and get something good to eat.  Santa Fe is such a cool city, it doesn’t really matter what you do there.

How about you, any big plans? If you live in the city are you heading to the balloon fiesta? I took the picture above two years ago, when the balloons flew above our house and landed nearby. My husband immediately loaded up the kids to chase the balloons and help them after landing. I love that man!

I better get the guest room ready…

Have a great weekend,

Sofija
