How are you? Have you recovered from yesterday? Harry Potter below slept in till 11, a record. Everybody is in a daze recovering, and examining their candy collections like pirates after a raid. Here are some pictures from yesterday.
I’m pretty sure Harry Potter and Hermione have been way over done. But that wouldn’t stop Ella and Lucy. But how about this Greek Goddess in the last picture? She is my friend’s daughter and made the whole costume herself! She used felt for the leaf crown. Her sister, the monkey on the left, looked so different, no one recognized her.
My oldest daughter helped me out by doing her girl’s hair. Thank you, Esther!! She used spray paint on Harry Potter and Sleeping Beauty.
Have you seen the funny pictures on FB on how to examine your candy for hazardous materials? I though they were a joke, we have never had to do that in our neighborhoods. However Esther went to her friend’s neighborhood where she was drilled to check every piece of candy. Pieces that could have been tampered with (like lolly pops) were thrown out immediately. Apparently her friend had gotten sick before (we are not talking about overeating here). Wow, the world we live in…
It’s hard to believe October is over, we are 10 weeks into the school year, and the holidays are upon us. I feel like summer was just a couple of days ago.
How are you recovering from Halloween? Our youngest four are slowly emerging from a candy coma as a result of last night’s neighborhood sugar feast. Thankfully Emily caught a few shots before they headed out to trick or treat. This wasn’t the whole crew, some of their friends weren’t ready yet.
What a fun night! The chicken and little Roo from Winnie the Pooh sure were candy magnets…:)
This was our first Halloween without our two oldest (they went to friend’s houses). Sadly something I will have to get used to, sigh.
All pictures taken by Emily Mulder. Be sure to check out her new blog, where she posts more beautiful pictures.
Three more weeks till Halloween!!! How did this happen so fast? This year I am hearing a lot of talk amongst my kids and their friends about “candy scoring costumes”. The conversation seems to have switched from “what do I want to be this year?” to “which costumes score the most candy?”. The general consent is not to dress up as Anna or Elsa, because there will be too many of those, which means less candy. Interesting logic…A lot of energy is spend on talking the youngest into wearing the chicken costume, because we know from experience that costume is way cute and gets LOTS of candy. 🙂
Here are some cute ones I have been pinning.
Here is my favorite! For those of you who were born in the 70’s, especially those from Germany, you know who this is…
Two more weeks till Halloween. Do you know what you will be wearing? Our neighborhood will be encountering a lady bug (3 year old), spider girl (5 year old), black cat (7 year old), and zombie (12 year old) this year. My 9 year old son hasn’t decided yet.
Here are some more ideas.

Orphan Annie and E.T. had me take a trip down memory lane. Thing 1 and thing 2 are too cute for words.
You can find my other post on costumes here. I have been pinning over 200 costumes here.
Halloween is rapidly approaching and we are having lots of conversations about costumes at our house. Who is making their own costume, what do we already have on hand, what do we need to buy? While I can’t get into the creepy, scary, witchy part of Halloween, I love the costume part. Pinterest is a great source to find cute costumes. Take a look.

This country is so creative with their costumes…love it.
Hänsel and Gretel are probably my favorite ones. I have been entertaining the idea of doing a Grimm Brothers fairy tale theme some day…
