Bellerose Spring/Summer 2013

Dear Friends,

How was your weekend? Did you watch the Oscar’s? Am I the only one who didn’t know that Scarlett Johansson can sing really well???? The song she did for the documentary Chasing Ice was nominated. Beautiful!

Our friend’s, the Hollands, made a really nice Oscar worthy meal consisting of seafood pasta, cheese and wine. Couldn’t have been better…

Do you remember my post on the Belgium brand Bellerose fall collection? Here is their spring collection that is just as cute and creative. Take a look…

After all the candy colored spring collections I have seen in the stores I find Bellerose’s bold colors refreshing. I like how they layer and pair dresses with T-shirts, dressy pants with Birkenstock shoes, or a nice shirt with a hoodie.

Have a lovely day,

Sofija

Dolce & Cabbana, Summer 2013

Friends,

Lately I have been drawn to Italian photo shoots. Beautiful scenery combined with old world charm. That is definitely true for this one. Dolce and Cabbana shot this summer collection in Sicily, which looks a lot like the coast of Croatia, where I spend many summers growing up. Take a look.

Beautiful, isn’t it? Makes me wish, I could go there this summer…

Have a lovely weekend, and stay warm.

Copy Cat Chic

Friends,

I’m so exited to share a copy cat chic moment I had this week. I took my mother in law to a local flea market when I happened upon this chair and ottoman. Our house has been in need of large, beefy chairs, that can stand up to a lot of abuse. I think it might be the perfect reading chair for my 14 year old. My kids think its great that it has a build in slide (aka back side).

IMG_5495Here is the Churchill leather chair from Restauration Hardware. It is real leather (mine is synthetic). This one costs $1695 and up, mine was $210.

What do you think? Close enough or way off? Would you pay $200 for it?

I’m dreaming on one day owning real leather chairs. But I am glad for now that we have this one, so when my kids destroy it  I won’t have to loose my salvation….

Oilily Summer 2013

Friends,

Have you seen the Oilily summer collection? Pretty fantastic in my opinion. They are going with vibrant floral prints this summer, also pairing pastels with neon and deep reds.  Take a look.

As always I appreciate the art they put into their shoots. Love the props they used like the gigantic pear. I wouldn’t mind putting the toddler dress on my 2 year old. Or the yellow skirt with printed red flowers on my 4 year old.

Have a fun filled, colorful day! How can you not after looking at these pictures…

The stools look exactly like ours, purchased at World Market. Who would have thought we are oh so trendy….Gotta tell you, they are not that comfortable. But they hold up to six kids so they are like gold.

See you back here on Friday!

Benetton Spring 2013

Friends,

How was your week? Any exiting plans for the weekend? After struggling with my middle schooler through Geometry and weather patterns all week, I’m looking forward to a three day break.

I’m so exited to show you what Benetton has come up with for their spring collection. Their theme is the “all Italian family”. Take a look:Benetton-summer-2013

Rolling, green hills, great food, sheep everywhere. Who wouldn’t want to visit their nona in beautiful Tuscany??

I didn’t think Benetton could top the creativity of their fall shoot, but maybe they did.

Have a lovely weekend!

Australian Kid’s Fashion: Oobi

Hi there,

How was your week? Is everybody settling back down to a normal routine? I was surprised how easy it was for my kids to go back to their school schedule. I expected it to be harder after two weeks.

It’s been cold where we live and I imagine it is not much better where you are. Here are some pictures to warm you. Australia is in the middle of summer right now. Did you know that there is a vibrant array of Australian kid’s fashion? I had no idea, but then, I have no idea what goes on in Australia in general.

Take a look.

Oobi-SS-13b Oobi-SS-13aI like how Oobi (great name by the way) combines elegant with playful. The blue tutu is pretty sweet, and how about the strawberry dress with matching hat and purse?

Australian kid’s fashion has made it on my favorite list for sure.

Have a wonderful weekend, see you back here on Monday.

The Perfect Homeschool Room

workroomfloor1

Friends,

this post is about what would be a dream come true for me: a designer helping a home-school mom to design a room where she can teach her kids. Can you imagine?? Edie from Lifeingrace had the good fortune to do just that. That is after her  previous house burned down and they had lost everything. So don’t be too jealous. Take a look.

Here is what Edie says about her room:” The multitasking type of room has long been a dream of mine.   A room that’s like me—–that reads and does laundry and blogs and dabbles in paints and maps and printing and child-rearing and bird watching.  We’ve only lived here two weeks but I can’t even  count the hours we’ve already spent in here.”

updatedworkroom3A place for everything, even the works of Luther. Love it.

Here comes the surprise. Not only is this room a school room but also a laundry room!!! This makes total sense to me, since that is what my days are all about: schooling, blogging, and laundry.workroom5

workroom7

Edie assures her readers that her room is NEVER this clean and organized. The green table for example gets cleaned about 27 times a day only to be cluttered with new projects again. The family spends their whole day in this room, first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Friends, this rooms speaks to me on so many levels. When you are home with children all day you want it to be a happy and aesthetic place, and one that functions well. We use our front room as a library/school/play room. Now I need to work harder in making it look prettier. However the washer/dryer will stay in the laundry room…

How about you, is your space working for you? Is it pretty enough where you want to spend all day in it? I know most of us can’t afford a designer, still the smallest changes like drapes, pillows, and a couch cover can make a big difference.

Happy decorating!

Downton Abbey

190133_193650787342201_4652315_n

Are you ready for season 3? If you haven’t seen season 1 and 2 you have until Sunday before season 3 begins.

Not sure what draws me most to the show. Maggie Smiths’ wit and one liners. Sympathizing with an aristocratic family who might loose their vast estate. Watching the family adapt to changes in society (my favorite is the butler trying to get used to the telephone).  The intimate relationships between the aristocrats and their servants. Or the fact that all the pictured people are main characters, leaving you many options to identify with. Add to that superb style and fashion and a beautiful setting in the English country side.

In season one and two the writer has imparted moral constraints in their characters. I appreciate when a show does not assume that infidelity is O.K. and normal. I hope it stays like that.

You know what I will be watching this Sunday night.

Have a lovely day,

Sofija
