Friends,

Have you heard about Khan Academy? It is an incredible resource for anyone, school kids, home-school kids, adults. If you would like to learn something, refresh your memory on that one topic, brush up on your math skills, go to Khan Academy. Their videos are conveniently short, about 10 minutes each. Most of us can find 10 minutes here and there, right? Our kids have used Khan Academy for Math. Sal, the founder, has the nicest voice and explains everything patiently. As a teacher I can keep track of my student’s progress. They cover every math topic from 3rd grade and up.

I have listened to some art lessons. There are tons of history, science, and economics lessons as well. Like I said, anything you want to learn, for free.

Have you used Khan Academy? Was it helpful?

Have a lovely day,

Sofija

Flannery O’Kafka

Hi there,

The fun part of blogging is coming across talented artist, who use their faith to inform their art. Andrea, known as Flannery O’Kafka,is one of them. She is a photographer who lives with her husband and five (yes!) children in Glasgow. I have been fortunate to get to know her a little bit through e-mail. She is one of those people I can converse with for hours and never run out of topics. I had a hard time selecting only a few pictures of her pretty impressive collection of children’s photography. She does photos shoots for magazines and children’s clothing designers. Take a look.

I like her styling, composition, and her ability to tell a story.

Have a lovely day,

Friends,

how was your week? Ours has been lovely. My husband’s parents and my nephew are here visiting. Our week has been full with snuggles, baking together, cooking together, and yummy, juice oranges. My mother in-law always remembers to bring or send oranges from their tree in California. Living in New Mexico we don’t always get the best produce. The oranges we have been buying here are rather dry and tasteless. So needles to say we have been feasting on orange loveliness. She also brought lemons, and yesterday she and my 11 year old baked lemon bars. I mean mouth watering lemon bars.

Now I’m looking forward to the weekend. Plans are to got to Santa Fe to a favorite New Mexican restaurant. We love to eat, can you tell???

Have a lovely weekend, see you back here next week.
